Our Story

Visionary Pathways Schools, Inc. (VPS) was built on a legacy of purpose, opportunity, and the belief that early exposure changes lives. That legacy began with Levi Arthur, the great-grandfather of VPS Founder LaTonia Moore.

As a student at Douglas High School, Levi was enrolled in hands-on learning that opened his eyes to the possibilities of skilled work. Recognizing Levi’s potential, his principal personally connected him with an opportunity at Sherwin-Williams. That introduction became the doorway to a lifetime career. Levi began working there as a teenager and remained with the company for 75 years. His loyalty, craftsmanship, and steady rise through the trades provided stability for his family and proved a timeless truth:

When students are given a clear pathway early in life, they don’t just enter the workforce, they build a future.

LaTonia carried that truth with her throughout her own career. As a former Career Tech Coordinator and Career Tech Instructor, she witnessed firsthand how students thrive when they are given exposure, support, and real-world skills. Her experiences in the classroom, and her family’s legacy, sparked the dream that evolved into Visionary Pathways Schools.

But VPS didn’t grow from one vision alone. It was strengthened through collaboration with leaders equally committed to reimagining education. Bryson Hunt, VPS Board Chair, brought strategic leadership and community-centered governance to help shape the foundation of the school. Samaya Williams, Chief Academic Officer and a scholar currently completing her Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum Ph.D. at Oklahoma University, infused the academic model with research-based practices, instructional excellence, and student-centered design. Together, their combined expertise laid the groundwork for a school that prepares students for pathways long before graduation, not after.

VPS is more than a high school. It is a promise. A public charter school designed to provide students with industry-recognized credentials, paid internships, hands-on training, and the academic rigor needed to succeed in college, apprenticeships, or direct entry into the workforce. VPS partners with industry leaders so that every student graduates with experience, confidence, and direction.

We truly believe that when students are given authentic opportunities, they don’t just follow a path; they create a legacy.
